Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick proposed a $34.8 billion budget on Wednesday, which included no funding for the valued AgeWell West Roxbury program.

But it’s a proposed budget, which state Rep. Ed Coppinger, D-West Roxbury, addressed.

State Rep. Ed Coppinger of West Roxbury got the city’s Ward 20 Democratic Committee meeting off to a fitting start on Thursday night by saying, “I didn’t expect a crowd this size. I think people were expecting an announcement.”

The Irish Social Club of Boston now has a permanent liquor license, essentially restoring the club to its legal capabilites as it was before April 2011′s abrupt and brief closing of the club.

More than $13,000 was raised to purchase outdoor Christmas decorations for West Roxbury during a fundraiser attended by some 350-plus people at the Irish Social Club of Boston last month.

State Representative Ed Coppinger, a lifelong West Roxbury resident, helped plan and sponsor the “Raise Some Green for West Roxbury Fundraiser” held on Sept. 28. He wants his home neighborhood to start saving and get its Christmas shopping done early this year.
